Comments on Certification ProcessOne of the most helpful resources I've found to aid my studies is the Internet itself. Some of my favourite sites are known as "braindumps." On these sites you'll find actual exam questions posted by people who have already taken the exams. To some, these braindump sites are considered "cheat" notes because they give you a taste of some actual exam questions. One of the most notorious braindump sites is BRAINDUMP HEAVEN. (I don't remember the exact URL, but if you do a search on AltaVista, it'll be one of the top sites listed.) Keep in mind that the questions and answers (braindumps) are posted by individuals just like yourself (students). I've found that there are always conflicting answers to some of the questions and answers posted on almost all the braindumps. This is probably because the answers have not been checked or edited for their technical accuracy. A very minority of the time, some people - deliberately or accidentally - have even posted the wrong answers. So make sure you do not totally rely on the answers given on the braindumps and check every answer yourself! In my last article I touched on the new "adaptive" questions, which are also known as simulation questions or officially called a "Simulation Item" when you take an exam at a Sylvan Prometric centre. Here is one small point that I have not figured out and it might affect every test taker who has faced a Simulation Item. Actually, I'll give an example instead of trying to write the point: Let's say you're faced with this simuation question on an exam: (just a simple example.) YOU ARE THE NETWORK ADMINISTRATOR FOR THE XYZ COMPANY. YOU HAVE BEEN TASKED TO CHANGE THE CURRENT SYSTEM TIME BACK 3 HOURS. Now, to do this question on a Windows NT Workstation/Server 4.0 computer you would follow these steps: 1) My Computer ----> Control Panel ----> Date/Time ----> change the time 3 hours back. OR you can double-click the time posted on the bottom- right hand corner of your screen. 2) After you change the time 3 hours back, you'll notice that there are 3 buttons at the bottom: OKAY CANCEL APPLY Now, the questions is this: Do you click the OKAY button to finish the task OR do you click the APPLY button, then the OKAY button to finish the task? Or it does it matter? The answer is it doesn't matter because clicking on the OKAY button by itself will finish the task, and by clicking the APPLY button, then the OKAY button will also finish the task.
