to treat infections that are not caused by bacteria you become part of the problem. Using antibiotics to treat viral infections like the common cold is not appropriate and has been shown to increase the number of antibiotic resistant strains of bacteria. So in other words next time you have a cold tell your physician to save the "Big Guns" (antibiotics) for other infections. You just want something to make you feel better until your body can eliminate those nasty viruses (rhinoviruses) on its own.
