or by drinking infected milk, but not by eating meat from infected animals. The human infection is temporary and mild. FMD is not considered a public health problem for humans.

Hopefully, by destroying infected animals and herds this FMD epidemic rarely seen in the UK can be stopped. If a country can't feed itself it can get in trouble very quickly. Let's hope this is not the final straw for British farmers.
