the HIV from increasing in numbers. Preliminary reports indicate
that AIDS patients with scrub typhus are producing antibodies against the
scrub typhus bacterium which for some unknown reason is also inhibiting
the ability of the HIV viruses to bind to human cells. This new and unexpected insight might provide new hope in treating AIDS
patients and in developing vaccines to prevent HIV infection.
Now, I would not suggest someone with AIDS get scrub typhus intentionally. There could be some rather severe complications. However, sometimes truth is stranger than fiction.
