A Gentile's View of Messianic Jews

© Virginia Marin

Gentiles who join themselves to Israel's Messiah and who live a normal Christian life are in no way inferior or superior to Messianic Jews.

By God's grace, Gentile Christians are one with Messianic believers in the Jewish Messiah Yeshua, Jesus of Nazareth. Messiah became to Jewish believers, as He did to Gentile believers--wisdom, righteousness, redemption, and sanctification.

With them, the Messiah is our wisdom. As we understand Yeshua, we learn together how to do those things which please God.

With them, the Messiah is our righteousness. As we look to Yeshua we become righteous in God's eyes. We then want to do those things which are right, and He promises to give us the power to do so.

With them, the Messiah is our redemption. As we draw near to Yeshua we are delivered from the slavery of sin and death. He saves us from the evil in this world, and delivers us from Hell and the power of Satan.

With them, the Messiah is our sanctification. As we put our trust in Him, we are declared holy. God will be at work in our lives cleansing us from our sins, restraining us from evil, making us holy like He is holy.

Our life is hidden with Messiah in God. So rather than focusing on ourselves, we should keep our eyes fixed on Yeshua the Author and Perfecter of faith. Focus on Him. Concentrate on Him. Let Him have first place in everything in our heart; soul; mind; in our work and meditation; in our evangelism and ministry, and in our life and identity.

As Gentile Christians would we be holier and more blessed if we observed the Jewish laws, customs, holidays, and traditions that Messianic believers in Yeshua observe? Well, I cannot answer that. Perhaps we could be. Perhaps we would not be, but I do know that those things contain nothing essential to our experiencing the blessings of God. In the first place, they were given to Israel and not to Gentiles. It would not be wrong for Gentile Christians to observe the Jewish feasts, and many Gentiles do. They are lovely, meaningful, and point to Messiah.

If we belong to Messiah, then we are, by promise, descendants and heirs of Abraham. We have been grafted into Israel's Olive Tree of Salvation and Blessing. We have been reconciled to the God of Israel. I think that is quite awesome!

Because of Yeshua, God is our Heavenly Father. We are fellow citizens with the Messianic Jews and the Jewish saints who died before the Son of God came to Earth as a babe in Bethlehem. We will live forever with Him in the New Jerusalem. We are a full heir of the Kingdom of God.
