The Armor of God
"Put on the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil" (Ephesians 6:11).
There has hardly ever been a time that the world has not known war. War has evolved from crude to more crude. From barbaric to more barbaric. From unspiritual to more unspiritual. From demonic to more demonic, and that is where we are today. As sure as we are breathing, there are spiritual forces, evil forces, working in the world against all that is good, and against God. Well, someone is saying - I simply do NOT believe you. I did not say it. God's Word says it. There is a spiritual enemy to overcome, and it is made clear to us in the tenth chapter of the Book of Daniel.
Now, Daniel had been in prayer and fasting for certain reasons and had received no answer, when an Angel of the Lord appeared unto him and spoke, telling him why he had been delayed: "But the prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me one and twenty days: but, lo, Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me; and I remained there with the kings of Persia" (Daniel 10:13). The Angel was in conflict with a demon, and he had to go back for help. This tells us just how strong demons are, when an Angel has to call for help. This was a spiritual battle then, and we wrestle with spiritual battles today. "For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places" (Ephesians 6:12).
Satan has a well-organized army of many demons, and they are out to win because their time is short (Matthew 8:29). First are the principalities. They are like military generals, whose plan is to conquer and rule the nations. Powers can be the one stripe buck privates looking for a promotion, so they enter a step up into humans and possess them (Matthew 28:1). Another group are rulers of the darkness of this world which seems to indicate that they have been given charge of Satan's attacks on the earth. Then there are demons of spiritual wickedness in high places. Religion is pretty lofty, so they try to corrupt the Church. They are all loaded for bear and carry out their work with thorough yielding to Satan and their natural impulses. Satan and his minions are behind all of the great troubles in the world today. They are too strong for us; for any human. How do we fight them? We don't. We stand.
