Giving Praises to God

A type of Nazarite vow can be applied to our lives today. If we are experiencing trials and hardships, we can set ourselves aside for God. It will not remove the trial, but it will make it more bearable. Jesus said, "Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your soul" (Matthew 11:28-29). We are missing a great blessing of the Lord if this call in Matthew is neglected.

I do not think we can, or should, make a Nazarite vow, because we live under Grace, not under the Law of the Old Testament; and, I certainly will not argue the pros and cons of alcoholic consumption. We can, however, dedicate our lives to the Lord, and in so doing, make a pledge to walk in the footsteps of Messiah Jesus of Nazareth. Many Christians are fearful of making a vow to God, especially financial vows, which may interfere with this, that, or whatever. If we commit ourselves to God about something, we will not miss out on blessings. God will always bless us if we are faithful to Him and to the promises we make to Him.

What is the blessing received from the Aaronic Benediction? God the father keeps us. He shelters us under His wing. Nothing can befall us without His permission. Then the Son makes His face to shine upon us, because He is the light of the World. We never have to walk in darkness or be fearful. There is more stumbling in the dark than in the light. God the Holy Spirit gives us peace, even in the presence of turmoil. How wonderful to experience His peace and live in it daily.

"Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy, to the only wise God our Savior, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen" (I Jude 24-25).

"Now the God peace, who brought up from the dead the great Shepherd of the sheep through the blood of the eternal covenant, even Jesus our Lord, equip you in every good thing to do His will, working in us that which is pleasing in His sight, through Jesus Christ; to whom be the glory forever and ever. Amen" (Hebrews 13:20-21).
