Color EnergyMy husband commented the other day that his staff treat him with kid gloves whenever he wears his brown pants. He knows this for sure because they told him! Could it be that brown pants contribute to his irritation, or is it that he chooses to wear them when his mood is particularly dark. I guess it is both. I did a bit of surfing on the Internet to find out more, and discovered that both people and colors have "vibrations". In fact, recent research has shown that people who are blind from birth can learn to differentiate colors through their fingertips by picking up on the vibration of that color! You see, light is the only form of energy that we can see. Other forms of energy can be dangerous if we are exposed to them, but visible light has a nutritive effect. Think, for example, of how revitalized one feels after the rain, when the world appears to have been washed, and all colors appear brighter and clearer. Color therapists warn against attempting to treat oneself, as they say that not only does each color have its own vibration, but each person does too, and the color and patient vibrations need to be compatible. There are a number of different techniques that color therapists use in their practice, such as the Color Visualization Technique, color energy products, increasing the color in the food we eat, the clothes we wear and the color of our surroundings. Colored lamps, passing sunlight through panes of colored glass, or sipping water which has been left in clear, colored containers in the sun for two hours, but brought in before midday are all ways used to tap into color energies. The color of food, our surroundings and the clothes we wear are also said to effect us. Although each case is unique, there do seem to be some generalizations which can be drawn, and these are discussed below. Red: The color of vitality, courage, and self-confidence. Red will help with depression, but an overdose can lead to one becoming agitated or even aggressive. It can help one get through a demanding day, or gives one a kick when feeling drained of energy. Orange: An uplifting color of happiness, confidence and resourcefulness, orange is an emotional stimulant. It connects us to our senses and helping to remove inhibitions, making us independent and social. It can have a warming effect, but should not be used for too long. It is not a good color for highly-strung people. Rose pink in psychiatric areas has been shown to calm down hyper, irrational patients.
