19 year old Australian Llyeton Hewitt won his 5th career title last week, beating Briton Tim Henman by 6-4, 7-6. The teenager looks to be the best young player of his generation, improving to a 20-1 record this year. The question that remains for Hewitt is just how far he can go, particulary given his small stature.

All that remains to be proven for Hewitt is success at a grand slam. So far on the ATP Tour he has shined, but has faded away in the grand slams; never passing the 4th round of an event.

Some players such as Pete Sampras and Yevgeny Kafelnikov do not believe Hewitt can make it to the top of men's tennis. Kafelnikov said that Hewitt's serve was "mediocre" and that he just plays consistently wihout having any big weapons.

Also Sampras once said that although he was impressed with Hewitt's talent, he felt the youngster lacked a big weapon, which is nowadays neccessary in men's tennis.

So can Hewitt win a grand slam? He certainly is not lacking in tenacity. His fighting spirit has won him much praise and acclaim from fans. This has been shown particularly in the Davis Cup, where he holds a stunning 6-2 record. His court speed and small stature make him seem like a young Michael Chang. Chang has also been criticised for lacking a big weapon, and also is known as a great fighter. However, Chang did win the French Open at 17 years of age; made the final of 3 further grand slams and reached number 2 under the previous world ranking system. If Hewitt could acheive that alone in his career, he will have much to be satisfied with.
