In Atlanta, unseeded Austrian Stefan Koubek beat rising Frenchman Sebastien Grosjean. Koubek upset Jim Courier in the semi finals, and went on to route Grosjean in the final by 6-1, 6-2. The Munich final was contested by 2 unseeded players, Franco Squillari and Andrei Pavel. Squillari won the match by 6-4, 6-3. In the Czech Open, Dominik Hrbaty won an all Czech final, defeating Slava Dosedel by 6-2, 6-2. Finally, Lleyton Hewitt won his 2nd career title, beating Belgian Xavier Malisse in Florida.
