Is it just a coincidence that the popularity of shows like ER and (lesser so) Chicago Hope coincide with the increase in applications to medical school? I think not. More and more college students are going "pre-med" in hopes of experiencing the excitement portrayed on those TV shows. (Believe me, its not always like that. I am waiting for the episode that shows Dr. Green spending four hours on the phone trying to get a patient transferred to another hospital because they have the wrong insurance, but that's another article :)) However, one cannot deny the importance and financial stability a medical doctor can offer. Here are some links to help budding docs on their way as well as wet their appetites:

The Doctor Diaries: Feel the pain of medical students struggle their way through their third year clerkships. Makes for inspired reading.

Although needs serious updating, Premed.edu is a nice place to start for premed and MCAT study links. Survival of the fittest.
