So why--in order to propagandize popular support for America's new war on Iraq--do the presses continue to repeat non-existing "evidence" that Saddam "gassed" the Kurds?

Wanniski speculates (and it is also speculated in the book mentioned in his articles) that Israel is behind these US policy efforts. He claims that the powerful Israel-lobby in Congress--powerful may not be a strong enough word--is demanding that W. Bush not only completes what his dad failed to do in the Gulf War--get rid of Saddam--but is also demanding that Bush try to do what Iran (read: Israel) couldn't do in the 1980s--destroy Iraq.

So where does the media come in? By constantly prattling on about non-existent "fact" (Saddam gassed the Kurds), the media is setting up the American people to accept a new war vs. Iraq, to root for it, and, thus possibly, go against the real needs of the American people: more jobs, security and prosperity; less big government, less police state, and less sending off our boys and girls to serve as cannon fodder for a war which (like Afghanistan, never seems to look like its been won: have we gotten bin Laden?)could be more in the interests of a foreign power (Israel) than our own.
