---------- Only in the media!
Only in the media could you have a "professor"--former VP and eco-warrior Al Gore--of "journalism", whether at ultra-leftist Columbia University, Boston College or wherever, e-mailing students and telling them to "critique" the issue of global warming from a science point of view for their next assignment, but also telling them not to use opposing viewpoints (!). But this is what WorldNetDaily Editor Joseph Farah writes in the Wednesday, February 28, 2001 issue at "http://www.worldnetdaily.com/news/articl..." in the article, "Al Gore and the New Journalism": "...students were sent an e-mail explaining that 'the vast majority of the world's scientists have concluded that human beings are influencing global climatic patterns in ways that portend changes in the global climate system more disruptive than any seen in the last 10,000 years.' (Farah later points out that this "fact" is not true--Ed.)
"The students were told to prepare to critique media coverage
of the global warming issue. After the class, students said Gore
suggested it was a cop-out for journalists to include in news
reports skeptical views about global warming.
"In other words, Al Gore is not teaching journalism. He's
teaching propaganda methods that would make Joseph
Goebbels proud. And why should that surprise anyone? This
man is a fanatic. He is a cleaned-up, publicly presentable version of the Unabomber -- Ted Kaczynski."
That was for Gore's second class. For his first class:
"In his first class as a professor of Columbia University's
Graduate School of Journalism, Gore taught his students the
meaning of the phrase "off the record." Students were asked
to sign a pledge of confidentiality with regard to what was
taught -- a strange request, indeed, for a journalism class."
No wonder today's journalists have a tendency to report only the "official version" without question. No wonder more and more real journalists must work for alternative news sources and organs. No wonder mainstream news media is losing ground.
Over the past week or so we have been inundated with a huge loud noise about how filthy Eminem is, how he hates gays and wants to kill his wife and all that nonsense in his song lyrics.
I would like to devote a hundred columns to this issue alone: this, along with filthy fine arts of the "Piss Christ" kind, is one issue that, like a bad penny, won't go away because the self-righteous-for-profit-types won't let it!
Okay, a few columns anyway.
Just like the reading of the Harry Potter books doesn't make your child want to go out and become a witch or a Satanist--just like listening to Elvis didn't make your mother masturbate all over the place and just like listening to the Rolling Stones or Led Zeppelin didn't make you want to go out and have oral sex on the street corner, and, finally, just like Marilyn Manson didn't make Harris and Kelbold kill those kids at Columbine HS a couple of years ago--listening to Eminem isn't going to make all those fourteen year old boys kill their girlfriend. Or gays, for that matter. Go To Page: 1 2
