It is less than a week until our Presidential elections. One more week of the mainstream and alternative medias spinning their agendas, more or less to obfuscate the truth, even if it looks as if the end really does justify the means. Well, what do you expect? Media companies are usually backed by someone with some agenda, and, of course, these companies must (if they are to continue to receive backing) move according to these hidden agendas. That is why "all the news that's fit to print" is so unfit--and I am not just picking on the "http://www.nytimes.com/" here. This is even true of the "politically incorrect" media as well, especially since they are trying so hard to convince folks that only the elite media is guilty of this.
Judge, lest you be judged.
I, for instance, am being paid by Suite101.com monthly a small fee for doing this column (but I could just as easily choose another topic, like, say, being a karate-mom), but truth in media and exposing the cancer of political correctness on free speech is a passion of mine. Some say freedom is safeguarded by upholding the Second Amendment: that the Second Amendment allows us to have the First Amendment--that gun rights allows us to have free speech. I say the opposite: that free speech allows us to have gun rights because free speech allows us to promulgate the notion that the Second Amendment must be upheld! (Which is why the framers of the Constitution put free speech/religion ahead of the right to bear arms, I suppose.). Now, if Suite101.com decides this column is too politically incorrect for its backers, they could just as easily close me down and put someone else here, or drop it all together. They could do this even though most of my stuff is geared for Americans (as is, it seems, most of the Internet) and Suite101 is a company based in Canada. But that really won't get me to change my mission here, which is to promote free speech, THE core media issue!
Well, this piece isn't about Suite101.com anyway.
Today on WorldNetDaily at "http://www.wnd.com/"--perhaps the Internet's finest example of investigative journalism--is just the most passionate plea (I could not do better!) for an end to lies and hypocrisy in the media I have ever read! The article is called "Out the Truth--fight the culture" by Rafael X at the URL "http://www.worldnetdaily.com/bluesky_exc..." and is a must read for anyone interested in making this society (oh, yeah, Canada's too) a better place for "children and other living things" (remember that hippie slogan 'War is bad for children and other living things'?). For once, the blame for America's decline isn't placed solely on the shoulders of the Liar-in-Chief (or the Liar-in-Chief wanna-be, Al Gore) but where it belongs, on the mainstream media, without which the likes of Clinton-Gore could never have come to the fore nor have a platform to get away with it. One could say that Clinton-Gore is a reflection of the lying, hypocritical society we have become because not only have we allowed ourselves to be lied to and like it, we actually want to be lied to!
