This would almost read like one of my "Media Issues You'll Never See" articles, except that one of the mainstream (though, I admit, its online-only presence makes it almost an alternative) finally went out on a limb and confirmed what the conservative organs have been saying all along--that the mainstream press is not only leaning toward Big Al, but is avowedly so anti-Bush one would think Dubya might consider dropping out of the race. Those liberal, Eastern Eastablishment folks--to a paper--might have a to-do over supporting Bush after Dubya called one of their own (at the "http://www.nytimes.com" of course) an "asshole" (hey, Bush said this, not me!)--but even without this bit of doofeyness on George W.'s part, the Texas governor wouldn't have a prayer of getting any of their support, since it's a fact--nearly all reporters for mainstream papers are avowedly liberal. You know, PC? The above comment that Bush might "consider dropping out of the race" is ridiculous, but the fact has been this: the mainstream press (either because it has its finger on the pulse of the voting public, or because it creates opinion instead of measuring it--and you know darned well the reason for this column's existence is because it creates opinion--propaganda--, which is NOT its JOB!) has been right on the money in picking the winner of presidential elections, and does a good job swaying opinion. Which is why the Salon.com article, "The Miracle the Press Won't Report" at "http://www.salon.com/news/col/horo/2000/..." is so important to consider. In a nutshell it says that the closest race in memory between Bush and Gore is miraculous since (the opinion-making role which the press has taken on would put Gore in a huge lead by now) Bush is pretty much right on top of Gore in most polls (except for the avowedly left- or right-wing polls) despite the truth that the media generally hates Bush and loves Gore to the point of obsequiousness, and will print anything to assure that Gore is elected. Yep, folks, Salon actually admitted what many media watchers know. And remember--this would be the result even had Bush not made that noxious comment to Cheyney. On the other hand, if you want to see what the press would love to report, go to: "http://www.freerepublic.com/forum/a39c51..." and read "New Poll Shows Gore with 100%" Go To Page: 1
