Suite101.com Editors: Join Media Issues Free Speech Event!© 2000 by Deborah Lagarde. Comments? E-mail: "mailto:dlagarde@suite101.com" Should Internet speech be regulated? Should pornography and "hate speech" (as defined by the Southern Poverty Law Center, ADL of B'Nai B'rith, HateWatch, Militia-Watchdog and the like) be allowed? To what extent should freedom of the 'Net media be squelched? This is the question I will be posing to all you Suite101.com Contributing Editors, all 1000 plus of you, in the coming weeks. My event will be called "Should the Internet be Regulated?" and I need you editors to help me out. Right now, in order for Eileen O'Dea to get my event listed, I need four other editors besides myself to submit articles to this event as a group, and then she will list this event under the Suite Events list. But I need four other editors to HELP! So I am posting this article and posting my query in the discussions section to get other editors to move on this. It doesn't matter if you think the 'Net should be regulated this way or if you are rabidly opposed to regulation, whether you are politically correct or incorrect, left-wing or right-wing, Bush or Gore or other supporter. But don't you think free speech or the lack of it is important? If you think this First Amendment right is important enough, contribute to this event! I was hoping to start today. When I get four other editors to submit stuff, then the event can begin. Let's discuss it! Go to: "http://www.suite101.com/discussions.cfm/..." and I can also be e-mailed at: "mailto:dlagarde@suite101.com" if you are interested in submitting.
