Equivalent Fractions (I)Ask children to find out equivalent fractions of 1, ½, ¼ ... by using a fraction table. Finding equivalent fractions using a fraction table: Give many copies of a fraction table, prepared using a fixed set of objects, to children. To find out how 1/1 can be expressed differently, let them color the squares, suppose yellow, where the whole set of objects appear. Suppose a child has a fraction table constructed using a set of 24 objects. Then s/he will color the first square in the line of the row "whole" (i.e., with the number 24) yellow. In the next row, "half", s/he will color the second square (having number 24) yellow. The method of expressing this observation in words or in the arithmetical language remains the same as shown above.
