Improvisations

Not only are mascots athletes, but they are also artists. Mascots need to be creative--most of their skits are not planned in advance, but done at a moment's notice.

Although the majority of a mascot's job relies on spontaneity, it doesn't hurt to prepare yourself for possible situations. The following is a list of possible improvs:

  • There is a good-looking person checking you out.

  • Someone is reading a newspaper in front of you at the game and is blocking your view.

  • You are a police officer and you're directing traffic.

  • There is a woman brushing her hair.

  • It's a cold day and you want to borrow someone's blanket.

  • There is a child eating popcorn.

  • There is a person who drops his hot dog.

  • Someone is wearing goofy sunglasses.

  • There is a bratty kid having a temper tantrum.

  • A racecar driver has a flat tire.

  • It's raining and your unbrella is broken.

  • Mascot A gives Mascot B a shave.

  • Mascot X is trying out for Cheerkeader and Mascot Y is judge.

  • The same as above except trying out for the dance team.

  • Ditto except trying out for majorette.

  • There is a man with an ugly tie.

  • There is a woman with a funky hat.

  • There is a custodian mopping the floor.

  • The starting quarterback is out with a sprained ankle.

  • You are walking on a hot sidewalk.

  • You are walking on glass.

  • You are walking on hot coals.

  • The sun is in your face.

  • You are walking against the wind.

  • You are walking in a flood.

  • You are attacked by a bee.

  • You are attacked by the family dog.

  • You are attacked by the opposing mascot.

  • Mascot X and Y play leapfrog.

  • Mascot X asks Y out on a date.

  • You are iceskating and you slip on the ice.

  • You slip and you can't get up.

  • You are tightrope walking.

  • You are on fire.

  • Your car breaks down.

  • Your bike gets a flat tire.

  • Its your birthday and you're blowing out the candles.

  • You have a crush on a fan.
