Ultimate Fighter - Week 8

So now it's fight time. Luke, known for his Muay Thai, goes up against Anthony, a groundfighting specialist. In round one, Anthony manages to close in on Luke and get him on a clinch, and for a moment, Luke goes semi-catatonic. But once they go to the ground, Luke goes ballistic and releases a vicious barage of strikes -- particularly elbows -- on Anthony. Anthony demonstrates a profound inability to listen to Rich Franklin's instructions.

Throughout the fight, Anthony will consistently ignore Franklin's advice. "You're dropping your left hand! Get it up!" Luke will then hit Anthony repeatedly on the left side with no reaction from Anthony. "Anthony, you need to jam him against the fence to limit his mobility!" Luke will then jam Anthony against the fence and knee his chin repeatedly.

In fact, that's how the fight goes. Luke dominates in the standup with knees, punches and elbows. Luke dominates on the ground by escaping Anthony's attempted submissions and pounding the face with fists and elbows. And Anthony ... ignores his own coach's advice.

All I can say is, Anthony is lucky Matt Hughes wasn't his coach, because Matt would have jumped into the Octagon, pulled Luke off of him, and yelled, "It's my turn now. See punch what happens pound when pound you don't listen? pound pound smash See crash what punch happens???"

Next week: Luke demonstrates that wild rice, garlic, tofu, and kelp really don't taste that good. To celebrate his win, Luke attempts to stuff about a zillion ice cream sandwiches into his face.
