On the Bright Side...?

In the aftermath of the September 11th disaster, the N.Y. Yankees march to 4 in a row, and a return to "normal" in the aviation industry (...more jets...), the haze at start-up companies is clearing. Layoffs, 4-day work-weeks, and a refocusing of operations are common events nowadays as firms struggle to find their niche, to strike their beach-head, and be on solid ground to becoming a "big" company.

Business life is not everything, but it sure goes a long way to feeding the chicks in the nest. Making sure that we are always on target is critical - asking the tough questions of, why are you doing that?; does that really contribute to achieving the goal?; have you involved the entire team? Sounds basic right? - Wrong!

When your head is deep in the race, all you start to see are tail-lights; and when you are that close, it's hard to stop before the crash. Step back, throttle back, and THINK!

Be on the lookout for new opportunities and inflection points. Make sure that you "treat people as you would like to be treated", and live happily; forever striving for improved work and personal conditions!

Life is too short after all...:-)
