Better Late Than Never...

Year end for small businesses is often a confusing time, one that coincides frequently with the Holiday Season. Shoe boxes of receipts fill stockings and dreams of no taxes fill their heads...

Clearly accounting and bookkeeping are not necessarily the core of your business operations - after all, you'd rather be solving customer problems than dealing with your own books. There are perhaps a number of good suggestions around this.

First of all, consider outsourcing it. That's right pay someone to do it on a monthly basis.

Secondly, do it yourself on a monthly basis.

Third, do it yourself on a weekly basis like yours truly.

Fourth, pay your accountant to do it once a year.

No matter what - knowing the numbers is essential to running your business. Setting up budgets, sales forecasts, etc. are absolute planning tools that will keep you in balance.

Keep driving your business forward, but don't forget the caboose!
