Karol from Poland
Pope John Paul II - what a wonderful and important man! For many of us, especially the children, he is the only Pope we've ever known. His passing, his funeral, and the outpouring of love from every corner of the world were amazing to watch for all of us.

But who was this great man? Here are several books for children that will help to answer that question and make him more real for us all.

Karol from Poland: The Life of Pope John Paul II for Children by M. Leonora Wilson, is a brief biography of Pope John Paul II. It is written for ages 4 through 8 and makes a great read-aloud and discussion starter for parents wanting to introduce youngsters to the Pope.

John Paul II, We Love You: World Youth Day Reflections, 1984-2005 edited by Barbara Murray, is a collection of works by young people collected at international World Youth Day celebrations. It is written for ages 9 through 12.

Says Amazon, "World Youth Day and its international gatherings mark Pope John Paul II's greatest achievement in his relationship with young Catholics around the world. Through these gatherings, the pope challenges young people to follow Jesus and to live a life of commitment, hope, and love for all. With reflections by young people from around the world and an 8-page insert full of color photos, John Paul II, We Love You captures in words and pictures the magic and mystery of two decades of World Youth Days, from Rome to Buenos Aires, from Manila to Denver and beyond."
