Although LA lost the MLS Cup to San Jose, they were able to pull out another trophy for 2001 with a victory over New England. The match was played on the 27th in Fullerton, CA, almost LA's home field. But the Revs opened the scoring in the 30th minute with their first shot on goal of the match. A foul set up a freekick about 35 yards out from the LA goal. Wolde Harris stepped up and slammed a shot off the wall which caused Kevin Hartman to be going in the wrong direction. The ball found the net.

In the 70th minute Ezra Hendrickson tied the match at 1 when he received a pass on the right side of the box and found the far side netting.

The heart breaker came just two minutes into sudden death overtime when Cobi Jones sent in a perfect corner kick that found the head of Danny Califf for the game winning goal.

At this point the off-season will begin in earnest. Look for players to be heading overseas on loan.
