Home field was definetly the place to be this week except for New England. The Revs hosted DC to Foxboro on Saturday and immediately found themselves behind. In the 5th minute Jaime Moreno intercepted a pass and raced toward the New England goal. He sent a low cross into 16 year old Santino Quaranta who one-touched the ball into the net. In the 71st minute Moreno would score his own goal off a Marco Etcheverry corner that Moreno headed in. In the 87th minute the REvs got one back when Cate made an excellent pass through traffic to William Sunsing who controlled the ball and placed a perfect left-foot shot just inside the left post. But in stoppage time Etcheverry found Quaranta down the left side of the field. Quaranta made a move around in his defender and found the inside of the left post as he fell to the ground.

Every other match of the weekend was won by the home team. In a bit of a surprise due to hard work by the Galaxy, Miami leaves LA with a 3-0 loss. The scoring began in the 8th minute when Cobi Jones carried a ball toward the Miami penalty area and crossed into Luis Hernandez. Nick Rimando came out to grab the cross and missed. Hernandez was then able to lightly head the ball into the empty net. The second goal came again from a cross by Jones. The cross was dropped by Rimando which ended at the feet of Hernandez who touched it to Adam Frye who made the tough angle shot to squirt the ball into the net. Jones then earned the third goal when he pulled down in the area. Greg Vanney stepped up to bury the penalty kick to make it 3-0.

In a match televised on ESPN San Jose hosted Tampa Bay and held on for a 2-1 win over the Mutiny. The Qukes took the lead in the 4th minute when Dewayne Desario made a penetrating pass to Manny Lagos who controlled the ball through two Mutiny defenders and placed a low shot just inside the near post. The score stayed this way until the 72nd minute when Mamadou Diallo took a bit of a dive in the box to earn a penalty kick that he converted himself. The beautiful play of the day came in stoppage time when Landon Donovan held the ball long enough to see Lagos making a run through the defense. Donovan chipped the ball perfectly onto the rushing head of Lagos who nodded it just over Adin Brown for the winning goal.
