Scores and News from 4/21This was a weekend in which last year' powers re-established their strength, but other teams showed well that they have also improved. This was also a week for comebacks. In a match in Kansas City on Wednesday night, the Wizards hosted the Fusion and came back in the second half to get a 2-1 victory. Alex Pineda Chacon scored in the 72nd minute to give the Fusion the inital lead. But just a minute later Chris Brown scored for the Wizards to tie it up, and then two minutes later Mo Johnston scored to give Kansas City the game winner. The Metrostars hosted the Tampa Bay Mutiny and conceded the game when they were forced to play with just 10 men for the last 60 minutes. New York went onto the board first when Tab Ramos made a great pass to Alex Comas who's slighted deflected shot still found the back of the net in the 37th minute. With a man advantage Tampa Bay came on strong in the second half and initially scored two goals within 5 minutes of each other. Steve Ralston scored the first when Valderrama sent a cross to Diallo who then flicked it on to Ralston. The next came quickly from Josh Keller. Roughly 5 minutes before the final goal, the Mutiny were reduced to ten men when Diallo was ejected for a rough tackle from behind on Mike Petke. In the 93rd minute, Valderrama again used his great touch to feed Jair who then found the back of the net after a spectacular run. In the first match of the 2001 Brimstone Cup, Dallas hosted Chicago and brought home a comeback, overtime win. The Brimstone Cup is what the two supporters groups have put together for the rival between the two teams, and of course because of their closely related names. In the final moments of the first half Chicago defender Carlos Bocanegra gave the Fire the early lead. In the 81st minute the Beasley brothers combined to give the Fire a 2-0 lead. But just 1 minute later the Burn began their comeback. Bobby Rhine was able to get a shot past Zach Thornton to bring the Burn within 1. Jason Kreis tied the match in the waning moments of regulation time by placing a free kick just of the post and into the goal. Finally, the the last few moments of the first half of overtime Ariel Graziani was sent by a pass from Bobby Rhine, he carried the ball for a bit and then put it in the top of the net giving Dallas the win.
