Although the remaining four teams are not surprises, there were some near shocking results that brought these teams to this point.

Colorado nearly pulled together an upset in Kansas City. Their second point in the 3-2 loss just came a little too late in the second half. And so now we have what everyone will agree are the top four teams in MLS (plus their records prove this out as well).

Kansas City strikes up their new rivalry with LA Friday night when they host the Galaxy in the opening match of their bestof three series. The last time the Galaxy played at Arrowhead they trounced the Wizards 5-1, so this is not a given for KC. The Galaxy will be without a number of starters who are on the Olympic squad, but will most likely have them back in time for the second of the three matches.

In the other semifinal matchup, Chicago is taking on the Metrostars. The first match was played Tuesday in Chicago and the Fire took the win with a score of 3-0. Zach Thornton had a strong night in goal while Hristo Stoitchkov and Dema Kovalenko both scored goals in the first half to give them the space they needed for the win. But the Metros had a number of chances and will be looking to force a game three with a win at home on Saturday. The Metros will also be looking for the return of Tim Howard and Ramiro Corrales from the US Olympic team.
