The Playoffs are Upon us


There were some surprises and some shoe-ins, but either way, the playoffs look to have the makings of excitement. Colorado squeaked in with a 1-0 overtime win over LA, and could now play the giant-killer when they face the KC Wizards. Tonite, Thursday, September 14, will see the first of the quarterfinal matchups with LA traveling to Tampa Bay. The game is at 8:00pm EST and is being telecast on ESPN2. This will most likely be a very close match and should be very exciting. The next game will be played on Friday, September 15, when Dallas visits the MetroStars at 8:00pm EST. The Metros will be looking to rebound from 3-2 loss to Miami in the Open Cup playoffs. Also on Friday, Chicago will host New England at 8:30pm EST. Chicago will needs a win and some goals since New England can be strong at home.

The next match will be on Saturday, September 16. The aforementioned Colorado Rapids will look to pull a surprise in Kansas City at 8:30pm. The Rapids have been somewhat stingy lately on defense, this could actually be a very interesting series. From here the game schedule jumps around a bit as stadium time begins to become scarce.

On Tuesday, September 19, Chicago will travel to New England for part two of their series. Wednesday, September 20 the MetroStars go to Dallas where the Burn are very hard to beat. KC is also on the road to Mile High Stadium to face the Rapids who have been tough at home lately. And finally LA will host Tampa Bay is the second part of their home-away series.

In all the quarterfinals appear to have the makings of a lot of surprises. Come around next week to see who will be moving on.
