Two Hot Teams Meet in the EastThe New England Revolution begin a five-game away stint this weekend in New Jersey. Both the Revs and Metros have been playing strong lately. Wolde Harris has been playing extremely well for the Revolution, but Clint Mathis is stepping up strong for the Metros. Even though the Metros lost last weekend to Tampa Bay, I would look for this to be a very close game. I think the surprise match of the week could be when the Kansas City Wizards travel to Dallas to face the Burn. Kansas City is reeling right now. They are trying to pull themselves back to their previous form, but are trying to do it without Miklos Molnar. The Wizards have a loss and a tie out of their last two matches. The last was a strange match against DC United that was cut at halftime because of a power outage. The Burn, on the other hand, have been gaining momentum. They have a win and a tie out of the last two games, and that was without Jason Kries. Jason has been returned to them and will be back up front with Ariel Graziani. I would look for Dallas to pull some at-home heroics. In an interesting twist, Chicago host DC just a few days after both teams beat their US Open Cup opponents by the identical score of 4-0. Diaz Arce had a hat-trick for the United and Ante Razov had two goals for Chicago. Both teams have a number of returning players from from the US Cup, and Chicago has been doing very well with or without Stoitchkov. I would look for Chicago to pull out a squeaker. The match against Columbus and Colorado could be an interesting one. Columbus sees the return of Brian McBride who played extremely well in the US Cup for the National team. The Rapids have the return of Jason Bent who played well for Canada for Olympic qualifying. The Rapids are playing at home, which normally means they will lose. They are playing a week after a win, which usually means they will lose. But they just lost their US Open Cup match against the Richmond Rockers, so that may mean that they'll win. It will all depend on which Rapids team shows up for the match. Cobi and Luis against Mamadou and Carlos. Try saying that fast five times. Tampa Bay travels to LA with the Galaxy glad to be home. The Galaxy has yet to be able to get Cobi and Luis on the same page. The Galaxy dominated in their Open Cup match, but did not put up a lot of points. Tampa Bay, on the other hand, is coming off a strong road win against the Metros and an overtime win in the Open Cup. I don't think LA has yet had enough time to pull things together. Look for the Mutiny to take this one.
