When you visit, be sure not to miss The Barnacle CafĂ© and Bakery. They house the island’s only espresso machine and they are conveniently situated where visitors arrive and depart the island. Another place to add to you “to-do” list is the Monhegan Museum. Not only is it a place to learn Monhegan history, it is also a place to view annual art exhibits and nature displays.
A book I am currently working on led to the inspiration to this article. The setting takes place during present day Monhegan life. Of the five people I have contacted in request of an interview, all have replied and three have accepted. I'm looking forward to what interesting information I will learn (and create an article about) when I visit the island to conduct these interviews!
