WHERE did that GO?!

© Shannon McCracken-Barber

Hi again all!

Lately my husband and I have been reminded of one of the more annoying habits of spirits... taking things.

To most it seems malicious but, most of my friends and I believe that it is more like their way of giving a "gift" since they can't purchase anything, at least not on this plane. ;) What they usually do, in my experience, is to hide something that was in plain view, let you go insane trying to find it then return it once you're not looking for it anymore.

It's very obnoxious but it seems to be a 'bonding" kind of a thing to them, and also a "now do you have enough proof to admit that you're haunted by me?!" LOL

I used to have a friend, in high school, who's house was haunted. Her house was probably 200 years old or more and the ghost living there loved to take her glasses. It could have been dismissed as her mistake except for the fact that she was blind as a bat and wore her glasses 24-7. Every night she would walk to her bed, get in and put her glasses on her nightstand. When she'd awake, many times, they'd be gone. One time they were missing for a few months, she had to buy a new pair and, once she did, the old ones appeared back on her nightstand.

Ours lately, luckily, have been minor things; a button I needed to sew back onto a new shirt and some copper wire that I needed for a ring. I held off on fixing the shirt and used other copper wire on the ring. Both times the missing items have appeared exactly where I thought they were originally and both times my husband had taken everything that could have been hiding the items off of I thought the items were, without finding them. Now, I'll admit that my husband has a habit of not seeing items right in front of him however, if he, systematically, goes through the area he always finds them. I heard him taking everything off the microwave and out of the container that I thought these things were on/in. It took him about 10 minutes each time. He, actually, was the one to finally say, "OK, someone's messing with us!", and he's a skeptic so I knew something must be up.

So, either our ghost just wants to get my husband in trouble, (LOL), or it is trying to make friends with us by giving us gifts. I am glad that the stuff has been minor and that our cranky ghost is finally loosening up, (knock on wood) but this could get old real fast. I'll let it go for a while, so that the ghost knows that we're OK with him, but if he keeps this up too long we may have to have a chat! LOL
