Well, ghosts have always been one of my favorite subjects and still are.
Some people have had near death experiences and many of those people have seen the same, or similar thing. (http://www.crown.net/X/NDE.html) A white light, a great sense of calm and someone/thing beckoning them to head toward the light. As they 'came back into thier bodies', the light dimmed and they slowly awoke. Many mention communicating with someone and saying that they didn't want to go, they weren't ready. http://www.crown.net/X/Stories/NDEorSome...
Others say that they were told what their goal on Earth was, to love and care for everyone and to help people etc. and they were returned to this plane. Whatever the "truth" is, if these people's testimonies are false, you couldn't convince them of that! They definitely believe in what they saw and even try to spread their word, trying to help others believe that there is life after death.
I, personally, have never had any near death experiences but I have have sensed 'ghosts'. I have also read that, when someone dies, they will go to the people they love and 'knock' three times, http://www.crown.net/X/Stories/ThreeScra...
This actually happened to me recently, for the first time. Someone I knew had just passed over a few months ago and I was home alone. I started thinking about this person a few times during the night and, towards midnight . . . or a little past, I heard three faint knocks on the door. Now, where I was sitting was only a few feet from the door and I live in an apartment building with long, narrow halls. The knocks didn't happen one right after another but slowly through the night. With the third knock I was a little shaken so I got up quickly and went to the door and no one was there. In this building I would have either saw someone or heard their door click shut, the doors are heavy metal with springs. I hadn't even thought about the three knocks being something to do with my friend until the next day. Reading the above story, (link), reminded me of that night . . .
