Fairies, also known as Fey, have been looked at for hundreds of years . . . usually only to be seen by children. Thought of as fantasticical myths, along with Griffins and Unicorns, they embody childhood innocence to all of us.
There is something about fairies. Even the most skeptical holds them dear in their heart. They are almost impossible to block out. Many Wiccans today chose the Fey as their elementals solely, identifying with their free ways and childlike play. The wings also speak to many Wiccans because of their curiousity of flight - witches were depicted on brooms because many witches of old used ointments that induced visions of flight and "out of body" experiences - although nowadays we know about the herbs and their properties . . . along with their interesting side effects. :) If you'd like to "remember" just what the Fey inspire in us, just look at how inspirational they've been to artists. Here's one page that has painting thumbnails from Gilber Williams, Boris Vallejo and Robert Hughes. Just go to: http://www.foundus.com/faerie/thumbnails... to see the beauty the Fey grace us with. Well, if you're feeling down and like you're letting the Fey pass you by all this time, now you can adopt a Cyber-Fairy at http://www.box.net.au/~berylj/fairies.ht... For the more serious Fey seeker there are pages with tons of Fairy Lore and info. Being that I am Irish, I thought this page to be very appropriate, being that the Irish were very fond of the Fey. Check out an Irish Fairy Tale http://faeryland.tamu-commerce.edu/~eare... for a lift of the spirit! Go To Page: 1
