The iMac arrives (well in North America anyway) With the arrival of Saturday August the 15th, the iMac has been introduced to the first of its new owners, and the verdict is in. It seems that Apple will for the next few weeks be more then able to sell all the iMacs they can build to just the local American market, making it a wise move from Apple to hold of releasing the iMac to the rest of the world until early September (even if that means that Apple Australia only has prototype units to train (show off to) its staff). This way, Apple can concentrate on fulfilling its local orders, before overseas markets start eating into production. Also the overseas manufacturing plants could be used to restock American stores if orders proves to be to high for the local American plant to fulfil, otherwise they can continue to stockpile and ship sufficient stock to all corners of the globe for the local release dates. iMac Reviews Probably the best so far, in terms of detail, are MacInTouch's original review (one of the first), and MacWorld . CNN and CNET's iMac reviews cover the basics while ABCNews.com has a nice review. MacAddict have only just received their iMac, but being the type of magazine they are, have already posted an out of the Box experience, and have pulled it apart. Dedicated to the iMac The iMac has already spawned numerous sites dedicated to it, from the simple sub-sections of larger sites like MacInTouch and MacWorld to the truly dedicated sites such as The iMac Channel, iMac2Day and iMac iNfo. MacGaming has a nice feature article on iMac specific gaming alerting gamers to the possibilities (and slight limitations) of the iMac as a gaming machine. Go To Page: 1
