Macworld in New York

Macworld Expo New York

Next week the Macworld Expo will celebrate its move to New York with its first ever New York outing. Coming along for the ride will be the first ever National Macintosh Gaming Championship, featuring tournaments in such games as Myth:The Fallen Lords and Marathon Infinity (from Bungie), Duke Nukem 3D and Quake (Mac ports available through MacSoft I love the Mac loving home page. :)) and lots of other games. Check out Mac Gamer's Ledge for a full list of the games, and qualifying session details for those going to the Expo who want to show off their skills. Mac Gamer's Ledge also plans to give a complete run down of the show, featuring daily news from the show, covering all gaming aspects of the show.

Talking of Expo features, creative people can make use of the Macworld/Pro Seminars for a "technologically intensive professional development seminar series lead by creative professionals for creative professionals." Or in other words, a good excuse to give to your boss as a reason to attend the Macworld Expo.

Apple (oddly enough) plans to participate in the Expo with such features as a Keynote Address by CEO Steve Jobs (live via satellite) and VP Worldwide Product Marketing Phil Schiller (live via physical appearance on the stage). There will be Apple Master's, Apple pavilions, even Apple conferences - man, it's almost like an Apple event. :)

Surfing the Web

Stone's Throw on Apple's new operating system direction is a short article on the state of play in the developer community with regard to Apple and our favourite OS.

MacKido letter to computer journalists is the most seriously funny letter you could write to put down a journalist with regard to unfair and biased Mac articles. Only a Mac user could be this funny, and only a Mac use could see the funny side to this problem.

Mac envy has reached a new height with the writers of an Amiga Macintosh emulator releasing Fusion a 68040 Mac Emulator for the PC. This emulator requires actual Apple Macintosh ROMs (well ROM images really) and is only able to run 68K Mac programs. On the other hand, it is almost 100 per cent reliable, can run MacOS 8.1 (requires the ROM's of a Mac capable of doing so) and runs on a standard PC. Anyone feel like replacing that Windoze OS with something better on that forced upon you work machine?
