Latest Releases

Bungie Software has released its new game, Myth: The Fallen Lords. This game promises to revolutionize the Strategy/War simulations' genre of games. It has a true 3D environment (an uphill fight is exactly that) that has a roving point of view (want to look up the nose of the dwarves? Feel free) and networking. Of course all this requires a fast, PowerPC equipped Mac (or one with a 3D graphics card).

Myth comes out on a Hybrid CD (both Mac and PC versions on the one CD), but is sold in Mac and PC boxes, so try to buy the Mac box so that retailers see that the Mac market is viable (and get in more games).

Red Orb Entertainment has released Riven: Sequel to Myst (don't get it mixed up with the above Myth, Myth is very violent, heart thumping, fast action packed game). Riven is non-violent, peaceful, puzzle solving sequel to the best selling game of all time (Myst was still number one on the charts just before Riven was released, two years late).

Both these games are set to be blockbusters for both Mac's and PC's. Of course the next time your PC loving friends are waxing lyrical about their newest games Myth & Riven, you can smile and reveal that they were made totally on Macs. (Riven was going to be a Mac first release, but Red Orb flatly refused to entertain the idea).

Surfing the web

Nuts & Bolts is a email list specifically for Internet problems on Macs. It is a new, but very active list that has dozens of emails a day about how to fix problems with using a Mac on the Internet. The list is moderated, so only emails on the topic will be sent to you. A very good source of information for those that need help with some problem they are having with their Mac when accessing the Internet.

Ever felt the need to turn an Apple II into a PowerMac? This guy did, and not only did he try to do so, he succeeded and got it to work! Serious stuff.
