The big story?
So what was the big announcement that Steve Jobs made at Monday's press conference? Well, it was nothing that was not already known (and no mergers or major alliances either). Apple announced The Apple Store. A web site for direct sales by Apple to the public sort of like Dell computers site. Well, Dell's site is built out of Apple technology, so it couldn't be made too different could it? Actually Jobs had a big picture of Dell with a target on it in the background as he announced the store. Along with the comment "We're coming to get you." MacWeek has a article on the press conference, as well as an Apple press release on its new direction and web store. Apple also announced its new G3 Power Macs and its ultra fast G3 PowerBook. It also announced a new monitor (720). MacWeek has a G3 Power Mac review, as well as a G3 Power Book review. MacWorld also has a feature on the new G3 Macintoshes. Though there was no big announcement about either the Apple CEO spot, or new alliances with other companies, the press conference is an Apple milestone in that it shows Apple's new hardware. These mid-range Macs are actually almost as fast as the top of the range 9600/300 (though not as expandable). These computers should be as fast, or faster, then anything from the Wintel competition, at quite attractive prices. Just a bit of Rhapsody news, Apple has updated its Rhapsody FAQ. So if you want it from the horse's mouth, take a look at the FAQ.
Remembrance Day Today (Tuesday) is remembrance day. Today, on the anniversary of the end of World War I, we remember all those that gave their lives in the Great War. The War to end all Wars. I hope that they think of this in Iraq. Go To Page: 1
