Great News for U.S. Readers

Apple is running an Add on, Take off rebate program for certain systems. If you buy certain Apple computers, including the Power Mac's 8600 & 6500, you can get a variable rebate (depending on the system you buy) from Apple. If you add extra Apple peripherals like printers and monitors to the package you purchase, you can increase the rebate. The rebate is also for some of Apple's peripherals, especially the laser printers. Check out the rebate page for details of what systems are included and how much the rebate is for each system.

In other good news for U.S. readers, the Macintosh Entertainment Software Alliance (MESA) and Apple have announced a "Buy Two, Get One Free" games sale, in which purchasers of Macintosh games can buy two games from a list of MESA-associated publishers games and receive a coupon for a free game of your choice from a list provided. Some of the MESA associated publishers are Bungie, Blizzard and MacSoft, so Quake, Duke Nuke'em, Diablo and the new game Myth are just some of the great games available for purchase to enable you to claim a free game.

The Mac Gamer's Ledge has more info on the MESA games deal, or you can read the press release. Steve Jobs even said some nice things about games in it.

Just so as to prove that Apple exists outside the U.S., Apple Australia's has a $500 computer trade-in offer available through its revamped Apple Centres . In this offer, Apple Australia will give you $500 credit towards the purchase of certain Apple systems when you present a working Mac or PC above certain specifications. You can even use the trade-in credit as the deposit for Apple Australia's six months interest-free offer as well.

New Power Mac G3's

Stay tuned for Apple's forthcoming announcement on new computers based on the new third generation (G3) PowerPC Chips. These new chips offer serious speed performance boosts over the 604 and 603 based computers currently available from Apple. The new computers, rumoured to be announced by Apple on Nov.10, are aimed to replace the 7300 & 7600 line of computers but also include a new PowerBook set to rock your socks off as it screams past the performance of the 3400 by such a margin that Apple isn't even removing the 3400 from its line up. Apple is keeping the 3400 as a mid-range PowerBook. The new computers are said to be called "Power Mac G3's," and specs for the computers can be found in various articles.
