who have just joined us, welcome, and to all those old hands, I hope you
enjoy the new look.
Just look what happened to MacWorld And MacUser and Macweek MacWorld Magazine's owners, International Data Group (IDG) and Macweek/MacUser owners Ziff-Davis have announced a joint venture called "Mac Publications" that merge all three magazines under the one banner, with Macweek continuing as a weekly magazine, and MacUser being merged into MacWorld. More info Infoseek storyArticle no longer availible Back to reality The ongoing soap-opera at Apple about the company's direction, who's controlling the reins and who's pulling the strings has reached such a frenzy of rumours that a lot of people are looking towards Steve Jobs' Boston MacWorld Expo Keynote speech on Wednesday with special interest. From various sources, but most particularly Apple Recon for Investors (RFI) the rumours are running thick and fast. Particularly nasty is a rumour about Apple stopping licensing of the MacOS, also there is rumours about proxy wars, "friendly" takeovers, not so friendly takeovers, complete control of Apple being wielded by Jobs and the demise of Apples Imaging group (the people making Apple printers). Amongst all this, Jobs' keynote speech will also deal with the new MacOS 8, presently selling like hotcakes, the killer new G3 chips running in Apples new hardware, as well as 300 and 350MHz 604 chips, and we have not even made it to Rhapsody yet. I expect an announcement date for the developers' release to be announced at MacWorld. My advice to Jobs? Get the hardware, software and operating system announcements out of the way first, at least that way they will get listened to, nothing will be heard over the outcry if any of your soap opera is announced. Articles RFI special edition covers most rumours. Macworld, the rest If the continued existence of Apple, the clones and the entire Mac platform aren't enough to keep you thinking about MacWorld Expo that starts on Wednesday, here's the announcement list, or the parts already leaked anyway. Motorola and IBM will be announcing their new line of PowerPC processors, until now know as "Arthur" or "G3", soon to be known as "750" and "740" and other assorted numbers. Go To Page: 1 2
