Apple's Get info under software updates. QuickTime 3.0 Apple has announced Quicktime 3.0 for both Mac and Windows. QuickTime 3.0 enables the use of DVCam files, AVI movies and Open Digital Media Language files. As well Open Media Framework (OMF) files are now able to be imported into Quicktime. Oh, and windows users now have the ability to edit quicktime movies, as well as view them. MacWeek Story Crack-a-Mac Crack-a-Mac was a competition worth about US$1300 that was run for 2 months. Nobody cracked the off the shelf Power Macintosh 8500/150 running WebSTAR. The machine was setup in 30 minutes from unpacking, loading the software, setting up the software, to connecting the web server to the internet. The competition was to change the web page on the computer, the computer had no special anti-cracking software running, and was configured as close to how a novice would configure it (ie absolute minimum software), and the full server specifics were available to contestants. Quite a testament to the safety of a Macintosh computer. Go To Page: 1
