Didn't you want to program your Mac?Programming the Mac While programming the Macintosh is not a task for the faint of heart (no Graphical User Interface (GUI) based operating system ever is) there is lots of help on the web to get you started. The Macintosh Programmer's Link Library is a good place to go for finding these web resources. For those with no experience at all, you could do worse then Learning to program you Macintosh, which is a site that grew up around a posting to the EvangeList asking for help getting started Mac programming. Also there is a couple of hobbyist programming books provided online thanks to the good folks at Ambrosia Software, Inc called Macintosh C and Macintosh Pascal. For those interested, Apple provides developers information on Macintosh programming at its Developer Pages , with special Mac Game Development Pages . Upgrade News MacOS 8.5 Some things I forgot to say in my 8.5 article . Apple will not provide support for non-Apple, non-PowerPC systems. While it might be possible to get 8.5 working on these systems, it is between you, and in the case of clones, the clone manufacturer to provide support to get it working. (In the case of clones that no longer have manufacturers, chasing up the manufactures of you peripherals, such as hard disk drive, CD drive and graphics cards are you only options for getting the updated drivers you need to run MacOS 8.5). This may sound callas and uncaring on the part of Apple, but Apple simply does not have access to clone machines in order to certify them for the OS. Definitely search the internet for information about MacOS 8.5 and your particular clone before you decide to buy 8.5, MacInTouch has a MacOS 8.5 Special Report that contains lots of information and links, and Mac News Network has an Installation Guide for MacOS 8.5. USB MacSport has published USB: A Mac Gaming Revolution, talking about how the cross-platform technology will advance the Mac Gaming cause.
