The following information will take the rigors of searching for repellents with Deet as the primary ingredient and give sources for purchasing effective products.

Duranon Tick Repellent repels and kills ticks, fleas and mosquitoes. This product is odorless and will not stain and is used only on clothing. Never apply it to your skin. The great thing about this repellent is that it will last up to two weeks and through three to five washings.

Spray Duranon only on the outside of your clothing. Lay the clothes on a flat surface, like a porch or garage floor covered with newspaper. Shake it well and spray the cuffs of pants and shorts, along buttoned areas, on caps and hats. Allow the clothing to dry before wearing.

The active ingredient in Duranon is permethrin, formerly called parmanone. Permethrin was tested by the Armed Forces during the Iraq War to repel ticks, mosquitoes and fleas. Permethrin is amore effective repellent than Deet.

This product is available through Wing Supply Company, P.O. Box 367, Greeneville, Kentucky 43345 (1-800-388-9464) and is Item #P22200. The cost is $4.49 plus shipping.

Another good repellent is Skin-So-Soft Suncare Plus by Avon. It's Deet-free. The repellents in this product are derived from plants. This product will repel mosquitoes, fleas and ticks and can be ordered from an Avon Representative. You can order direct by phone at 1-800-For Avon or visit the Avon website at www.avon.com for more information.
