SNUG HARBOUR INNOn a trip to British Columbia we came across a lovely Bed and Breakfast that fits in the posh column. Driving to Ucluelet, BC by way of Port Alberni and a long winding two-lane road. We found many B&B's but we had reservations for the Snug Harbor Inn. What a delight!! The oceanfront property, in a beautiful setting is located on the edge of an 85 ft. cliff. This home was built to be intriguing, romantic and to insure privacy. The Inn caters to adult clientele. The hosts Sue Brown and Drew Fesar ircumnavigated the world for nine years, and are now more than willing to share their "snug harbor". Each room has it's own unique theme and is carefully decorated with a nautical motif. Sailing paintings adorn the halls leading to each room and there's a wonderful wooden wheel from the owner's father's 132-foot sailing yacht as well as models of their own 73-foot yacht. Each room features nautical furniture and fittings with fireplace, jetted tubs for two - one has its own waterfall -- queen- or king-size beds, private decks overlooking the Pacific. There's even a helipad for a Jet Ranger. The bathrooms have heated floors, wonderful fixtures and a full wardrobe of custom soaps, super thick towels and lavish robes. From their private helipad on the beach you can schedule trips to remote fishing spots use your own chopper to shuttle to Victoria, Vancouver or even Seattle. You might be whisked to a deserted island, follow the migrating whales or have your own private lunch on a glacier, too. Winter months from November to February you can enjoy the fierce Pacifc storms with the huge crashing waves from the fire-side comfort of your own luxury suite. Several weddings have been held in the past at this wonderful site, the hosts can arrange a Marriage Commissioner to help with photographer and floral designer. There's quite a lot to do here, charter fishing tours are available all over the island, You can sit back and relax or try the whale watching and nature cruises. Want to paddle, kayaking is also available, or you can take a stroll on the beach, lot of driftwood can be collected between Ucluelet and Tofino. Upscale dining is available, but we especially liked the Canadian Princess, a one time Inside Passage Ferry, now moored in town for it's seafood corn chowder with lots of mixed fish and shellfish. Frankly, where seafood is so fresh it seems a shame to hide its' taste with fancy sauces.
