Fishing Fun

Dawn and dusk are prime times to fish from spring to fall. My husband cites "Idaho State pike records" and notes you can find all sorts of good bass and pike action along the shore. Trollers catch over 250,000 kokanee a year, and do well on huge landlocked salmon. Compulsive trout fishermen can find guides and information on the St. Joe River and other hot spots at local tackle shops. Where to fish is a tough choice. Locals claim the St. Joe River may have the best cutthroat trout fly fishing in the US and nearby Hayden Lake is famous for, among other things, fine crappie action. Most of the lakes along the St. Joe and Coeur d'Alene Rivers offer a dandy mix of bass, pike and panfish.
