Luther's Catechisms: Commentary on the Lord's Prayer

of the Lord's Supper. Guess what? John does NOT record it for us (when he wrote the three Synoptics and Paul had already addressed topic so John likely felt no more needed to be said). Thus, we cannot make that comparison within John itself. As for making that comparison across the Gospels is a stretch. Each writer used his own style and method of writing, even if God breathed the words into them. We cannot in linguistic honesty say that because John used "is" one way means that it applies to Matthew, Mark, and Luke.

The Lord's Supper (also rightly called the Eucharist, the Last Supper, and Holy Communion) is an intimate gift from God to his children. We receive God to our very core. This sacrament nourishes our soul and strengthens our faith. God himself communes with us in this sacrament.
