away to get a better look. She screamed in pain but did not pull away.

There is a infectious skin disease clinic in Kisumu (about 120 kms away) so we gave the mother money and told her to bring Faith to David's home in Kisumu on Monday. I had my doubts that she would come but sure enough, she showed up about lunchtime. Mary served them lunch and we hired a taxi to take them to the clinic. Joab Othatcher (the director) was there and he took the girl and the grandmother to the nurse. When he came back he said that this particular infection is the worst of the bacterial skin infections. It never goes away and keeps spreading and is very painful. She will have to clean the wound daily with betadine solution and apply a topical antibiotic. If the grandmother does not skip a day and completes the treatment, Faith should have full recovery.

They came back to the house and stayed the night. In the morning, the grandmother gave Faith another treatment. The pus is gone and the wound looks very healthy.

I gave the mother 3000 Kenyan shillings (about $38) to buy some protein like beans and omena (a small fish that looks like a minnow and is very cheap). David told her we will be back to check and if she hasn't purchased the food and does not have the money, she will not get any help ever again (of course we will always help the children, he was just trying to get her to comply). He feels she will be compliant. She loves and cares for her grandchildren very much and she is well known to the Chuchu clan.

I have so much more to tell you so I will be sending additional newsletters over the next few weeks.

In the Name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ,
