Paul also addresses lay people in the section to the Ephesians. Our pastors and our teachers train us and equip us so that we, too, may do God's Kingdom work. How each one of us carries that out is different from individual to individual. Some people are equipped to have a broad vision of the work of the kingdom. Some have a gift of words to express God's truth of salvation, either orally or in print form. Some are able to counsel a fellow Christian, or even a neighbor who does not fully know or appreciate our full and free salvation. Some quietly clean and beautify God's house to give an unspoken testimony of God's majesty and love. As a Christian you are not just a member or a follower; you are also a vital cog in the Church of God to proclaim and share God's message of grace-whether to neighbor, spouse, children or fellow Christians. And remember, the same God who creates us and gives to each of us our unique gifts and abilities knows what we can do. He asks for no more than what He gave us. Lest we view our conceptions and births as just normal, ordinary, run of the mill daily happenings, let us look at the examples of Scripture that display that our conception and birth is a miracle and wonder of God. I will do this by showing you the examples of the barren women of Scripture and how God answered their prayers. We have the example of Sarah, wife of Abraham. Her original name was Sarai and she is introduced to us in Scripture simply: But Jahweh promised to Abram and Sarai a son, an heir to carry out the Promise. It was Abram whom Jahweh chose to bear the line that would bring the Savior into the world. But Sarai was barren; how could the line of the Savior come from Abram? Jahweh taught Abram patience. Abram was 75 years old when God first made his promise. When Isaac was born, Abraham was already one hundred years old! Imagine waiting 25 years for someone to make good on a promise!
