At the risk of appearing vain, this week's feature will look at how Lutherans can use the Internet for promotion of ministry as well as inform and educate about their faith.
The following article is the 4 February 2000 installment of "Site du Jour," an electronic newsletter that is sent daily. Some sites are wacky, some informative. But in this case, it helps one congregation, Salem Lutheran on Milwaukee's Eastside, promote and proclaim the Gospel message. This installment also mentions this very site. And, as you can see by the description, this site is seen as a source of info for Lutheranism and, I hope, Christianity as well. Site du Jour of the Day (000204) Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church http://www.geocities.com/Athens/Academy/... Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA In response to the Site du Jour of the Day episode featuring the site for Landover Baptist: America's Favorite Church (http://www.landoverbaptist.org/ ) (SdJotD 000203), reader and frequent site-scout John Hoh wrote, "Maybe to ease those who MIGHT be offended by this one, you could run the Virtual Tour I built for my church?" John, who practices confessional Lutheranism has put together a fine site for the Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church. Look for the phrase "Take a Virtual Tour of Salem" just above the photograph of the front of the church. In addition this and other sites, John edits the section at Suite101.com (http://www.suite101.com ) titled Lutheranism (http://www.suite101.com/welcome.cfm/luth... ). Visitors will find a great deal of information about the faith through original content and pointers to other sites. If anyone did find the Landover Baptist: America's Favorite Church site offensive you now know why it took so long to be featured as Site du Jour of the Day. Should the Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church site offend, remember it goes that way some of the time.
