Jerusalem Times: 6 April 33AD
Reading of "Song of Solomon" at Temple tonight The annual Passover reading of Solomon's "Song of Songs" is scheduled for tonight at the Temple. Listen for the shofar to blow at the tenth hour. We must remind our readers of the law that restricts the hearing of Solomon's fine book to men aged 30 and older. Jesus again clears temple Jesus bar-Joseph the Nazarene was again enraged and tossed out those selling sacrificial animals in the Court of the Goyim. Coins scattered in all directions and many scrambled to retrieve them! It is safe to say that the temple merchants suffered a financial blow yesterday. The leaders of both the Pharisees and the Saduccees denounced this act as that of a madman. However, no one was able to stop the Nazarene from his activity. He also walked away without further incident. The temple guard is reported to be under triple duty for the remainder of the week. While the Nazarene would not speak to Jerusalem Times reporters, he did say to the crowd: "It is written, 'My house will be a house of prayer'; but you have made it 'a den of robbers.'" Thus he quotes Isaiah and Jeremiah! This does not bode well, for both of those prophets met hardship and death. Jesus causes fig tree to whither In another bizarre twist, Jesus bar-Joseph of the Galileean town of Nazareth cursed a fig tree so that it withered. It is reported that he was looking for figs but found none. No one knows why he was expecting such fruit when it is not the time of year for figs. The owner of the tree, Judas ben Jehudah, promises to seek recompense. It appears the tree is dead and will bear no more fruit. This tree was planted by Judas' grandfather and supplied figs for the family for generations. Jesus claims authority! Jesus bar-Joseph, of Nazareth, was confronted by temple authorities about his recent activities. The temple leaders asked him, "By what authority are you doing these things? And who gave you this authority?" Jesus replied, "I will also ask you one question. If you answer me, I will tell you by what authority I am doing these things. John's baptism--where did it come from? Was it from heaven, or from men?" After discussing the question, the leaders debated: "If we say, 'From heaven,' he will ask, 'Then why didn't you believe him?' But if we say, 'From men'--we are afraid of the people, for they all hold that John was a prophet."
