Bread Machine Creations - Part 1 of 2

With the advent of the Bread Machine, most anyone can enjoy the aroma and freshness of home baked bread anytime without all of the work! Following are some delicious and heart-healthy recipes to try in your bread maker to accompany your next meal creation!

Honey Whole Wheat Bread
1 1/8 cup of milk
3 tlbspns. of fruit juice concentrate
1 ½ tblspns. of maple syrup or honey
¾ tspns. of salt
¾ cup 12 grain flour
2 ¼ cup whole wheat flour
1 ½ tspns. dry active yeast

Add all ingredients to the bread pan in the order suggested by your bread machine’s manufacturer. Program to the basic bread cycle. Makes a 1 ½ lb. loaf.

Sun-dried Tomato and Basil Bread
2 1/4 teaspoons dry yeast
3 1/3 cups bread flour
3 tablespoons wheat bran
3 tablespoons nonfat dry milk powder
1 tablespoon dried basil
1/3 cup chopped sun-dried tomatoes, chopped
1 teaspoon salt
1 1/4 cups lukewarm water

Pour boiling water over sun-dried tomatoes and soak for about 15 minutes to reconstitute. Drain and cool to room temperature. (*Do not use oil-packed sun dried tomatoes.) Add all ingredients to the bread pan in the order suggested by your bread machine’s manufacturer and program on the basic bread cycle. Makes a 1 ½ lb. loaf.

Spicy Carrot Bread
2 tspns. active dry yeast
3 cups bread flour
1/3 cup yellow cornmeal
¾ cup finely grated carrots
1 ½ tspns. ground cumin
¼ tspn. cayenne pepper
¾ tspn. salt
1 cup water
¾ cup sweet raisins

Add ingredients according to the order suggested by bread machine manufacturer. Set to basic bread cycle; Add raisins at the fruit indicator beep (or at the end of the first kneading cycle). Makes a 1 ½ lb. loaf.

Cinnamon-Raisin Bread
1 cup water
2 tablespoons honey
2 cups whole-grain wheat flour
1 tspn. salt
1/4 cup vital wheat gluten
2 ½ tspns. active dry yeast
2 tspns. ground cinnamon
1/2 cup raisins

Add ingredients according to the order suggested by bread machine manufacturer. Set to basic bread cycle; Add raisins at the fruit indicator beep (or at the end of the first kneading cycle). Makes a 1 ½ lb. loaf.

Applesauce Bread
1 package of active dry yeast
3/4 cup whole wheat flour
2 1/4 cups bread flour
1/2 tspn. salt
4 tbslpns. sugar
1/2 tspn. ground cinnamon
Pinch of nutmeg
2/3 cup warm applesauce
1/2 cup warm apple juice
1/2 cup finely Grated apple, peeled

Place all ingredients into the pan in the order suggested by the bread machine manufacturer; select basic white bread setting and start. Makes a 1 ½ lb. loaf.
