Fishing in the Sportsman's Paradise

" You get a line, I'll get a pole.
We'll go down to the crawdad hole.
O-oh, Baby-mine.**

Do universities offer fishing where you live? Some do here and I cherished my afternoons on Lake D'Arbonne during my Louisiana Tech days. I have really weak wrists and flunked both the casting and rowing "tests." But I still got a good grade because of my excellent attendance.

We are now in "dodge-the-boat-days" in Louisiana. That means the highways are full of pick-up trucks towing boats. Generally, the drivers are very eager to get to the lake, so they drive very fast with their boats swaying behind them. Those of us just on our way to mass or Wal-Mart have to stay alert!

Fishing is a family affair in Louisiana. Everyone participates, young and old, male and female. I lived in Virginia a few years and looked for a young man to take me fishing. When I'd find a guy with a boat and ask if he'd like to go fishing, I'd get the most astounded responses. These Virginians had no concept of fishing with a woman. I had no concept of fishing by myself, so I missed out on fishing in Virginia.

These links will help you plan a fishing trip in Louisiana. If you already fish here, maybe you'll find a new "fishing hole."
